Do I have different email programs than everyone else? I think there is some confusion here.... I know how to change the notification sound on any given program that supports it. Not all programs support it. I want a different sound from each app that has push notification. This way, I can simply hear the sound and know exactly what program is sending me an alert. In the example I used, CNN NEWS app, you can't change the notification sound. It shares the same sound that GMAIL uses. So, when an alert arrives, I can't tell the difference between the two. I found that NOTIFIERPRO allows you to individualize the sound alerts from each app. I think there is some confusion here.... Changing the GMAIL application only gives the CNN application the same sound. It's unfortunate, but some apps just share the notification sound of another. At least NOTIFYPRO allow you to individualize each app's own notification sound even if the app itself doesn't support it. You can't assign it's own notification sound. I am really enjoying NOTIFIERPRO. It allows me to customize alert sounds and sends notification banners to the home screen for just about any program I have. I am using Notifier Pro. I am still rather new to Android so I am not certain of everything, but I would suspect that most programs that send out notifications allow you to go into their menu and change the sound. You might also be able to do it just from the SOUND configuration under Android's general settings. Let me know how you make out. Very interested to see if you get it to work as you wish. Notifier Pro Plus paid version, not Notifier Pro - free version does allow you to pick any installed app and set a notification for it. If the app has it's own notification, it plays both, unless you turn off the app's notification. For apps that either have no notification, or do not allow you to change the notification tone, Notifier Pro Plus allows you to set any app with any notification you have available. I have installed Zedge, which has TONS of free ringtones and notifications. However, it does not have some of the things that I wanted to be able to really customize the ringtones I wanted for certain people. I have also installed Ringtone Maker. This little app allows me to take any sound file, edit it to only have the exact sounds I want, amplify it to be loud enough to be heard, and save it for access by an app or Notifier Plus Pro. For example, when someone calls that is in my address book, it plays a few loud guitar riffs from a Chuck Berry tune. When my Doctors call, it plays a siren. Facebook messages have another whistle notification. I have managed to set up all my communications so that I recognize the source without having to look at my phone, and THAT is exactly what I wanted. So, I heartily recommend Notifier Pro Plus as the path to setting a ready tone for any app, Zedge for downloading tons of ringtones and notifications, and Ringtone Maker for tweaking any sound file to fit the length and volume you want.

Notification sounds can be a lot of fun to play with and a sincere way to embrace. You can even change the Android text notifications any time you want, anywhere you are. Withthe method is also identical. For example, when someone calls that is in my address book, it plays a few loud guitar riffs from a Chuck La tune. This Xposed module can separate the two streams as they were before ICS.
